Chris Caes, Executive Chef
We are happy to welcome newly appointed Executive Chef, Christopher Caes to our Glen Oaks team!
After nearly ten years of working in the financial services industry Chris followed his passion for great food to the Iowa Culinary Institute. There he studied for two years earning a scholarship to travel to France and intern for chefs in St. Alban les Eaux and St. Andre d' Apchon.
While in culinary school, Chris began working at Wakonda Club where he worked his way through the ranks to Sous Chef. After four years at Wakonda Chris left to pursue an opportunity to reopen the previously closed Hotel Pattee in Perry, IA as its executive chef alongside the new owners. One year after successfully relaunching the hotel Chris returned to Wakonda to be closer to his family and was promoted to executive sous chef soon after.
Chris and his wife Krista have their hands full with four beautiful children, Liam, Owen, Amelia and Andrew ages 12, 10, 6 and 4. When not working or running kids from one activity to another Chris and his wife enjoy quiet nights in with pizza and a DVR episode of Blacklist.
As many of you will discover, Chris is a “people person”, a key component for the Culinary Leader at Glen Oaks. Chris will improve on the family culture we have built over several years; we’re looking forward to the future of dining at our Club!
